blog blog blog table blog dirt

It's Corners day, and I can't find a clean corner to photograph. The house is a mess, the pile of dirty clothes in the laundry room is threatening to tip over and smother a passing child, and my dad just called and said, "The blog hasn't changed. I thought you were supposed to put something new up every day." Aaaargh!

It's all because I'm spending every free minute (which isn't that many for a mom, you know?!) working on my new weblog. I found a free MT template to copy and slowly have been fiddling with it, trying to get it to look good. and work right. I don't know anything about this code stuff. I got stuck, and my awesome friend Michael, husband to the equally awesome Tobi, helped me out for several hours last night. There's still one problem with the home page that he's going to try to solve and I have to mess with some of the archive pages (oh, it's so complicated...) and then I'll let everyone know the new address. He even figured out how to import all my Blogger entries after I left at midnight last night. Michael, THANK YOU so much! I owe you BIG time.

I'm going to just sit on the Back-Tack overflow swap idea for a few days. I feel like I'm guilting you all into this, and that wouldn't be very fun. Click here to see the real Back-Tack 3 rules and if you really want to do it, email me and we'll figure it all out.

I'll leave you with official evidence of how much my mom rocks. She just designed and built us this patio table, pretty much all be herself. I need to lightly sand the edges to take off the splinters, and then stain it. Wooooo weeeee! Patio party, anyone?!

And a gratuitous picture of my children enjoying the nice weather. J is teaching N the finer qualities of dirt...

slacking back tacker

***Added at 11:30 am on 4/12/06: OK, peeps. According to the comments, Capello sounds like a maybe, but see, we're good friends and we live about 10 blocks apart. I love her to death, but part of the fun of a swap is sending and receiving stuff from afar. Isn't there any one else who might join us? If there were four of us, we could mix it up and it would work better. Oh, come on... I'm hoping at least a few people are reading this...***

Boo hoo. I missed the signup. I checked yesterday early evening and I didn't see the sign-up email post and then I forgot until this morning and it is full. Filled up in an hour or something crazy like that. Bummer.

SO, I've been thinking (a dangerous pastime, I know) why don't I just do it anyway?! It's not anonymous this time, and if I find a willing partner, we'll just follow the same rules all by our lonesomes. We'll be the Slack Tackers.

Anyone else miss out? Wanna play?

**Added at 11:15 am: Blogger seems to be in one of those moods again today. I said some nasty things about her yesterday, and now she's holding a grudge. If for some reason comments won't work and you want to do this swap with me, email me at alicia@themayfly.com. Please? Somebody?**

family jammies

These are the infamous sailboat pajamas.
Brian wore them when he was a boy. Luke,
Timmy and David (Brian's nephews) all
wore them. Now they finally fit J. I had
to make them into shorts because there
were some holes in the knees.

I told him to look sassy, and this is what he
gave me. He said, "These feel really
cute." Z said, "J, you look sooooo
handsome."

good stuff, big blogging news

When I got home from my appointment on Friday, there was a box waiting on the porch. LOOOK! LOOOOOOK! It was from Hawaii- Tasha sent me some fabric and goodies just because. So sweet of you, Tasha. I love it all. Thank you!

Look at the fabrics! I don't have a huge stash of fabric like some of my crafty friends, so this just thrills me! And it gives me some more options for this month since I'm not buying any new supplies. There's a pattern for a dress for N and some snacks that J has been busting to try, but I made him wait until I could take a picture this morning.

My head is swimming with ideas for it all. The black polka dots will be something for me. Maybe a bag for Fall. And the hot pink with the goldfish or maybe the one with the flip-flops- I think I'll see if there's enough to make the little dress for N. The yellow can go towards April's Tie One On. It's all perfect, really, and I can't wait to find uses for every bit.

In other breaking news, I am TOTALLY fed up with Blogger. It took me an hour and a half to post the orange photos Friday night. It is so stinkin' temperamental! I sneeze and it all goes haywire. I've installed the free version of Movable Type onto one of my regular webpages (the site where I keep my murals ) and I'm slowly trying to figure it out. It isn't as simple to use as Blogger and the free version doesn't really come with any support, but I will be in total control and I'll be able to categorize things. I have no idea if I'll be able to transfer my old posts and comments, but I'll try. I'm going to have to learn some "code" I think to get it to look how I want, but I'm hoping it will be worth it. SO, eventually I'll move, just not yet. Wish me luck.
